Invisalign Clear Aligners
Invisalign is a teeth-straightening method that provides an alternative to traditional braces that is both more convenient and less conspicuous. Many patients are left dissatisfied with the experience of conventional braces, with children begrudging them and many adults refusing the treatment despite having misaligned teeth.
With Invisalign, these patients have a much better treatment experience. Instead of relying on metal brackets and wiring, Invisalign corrects tooth alignment with a series of clear plastic aligners. These are less noticeable, more comfortable, and much easier to live with than traditional braces.
Even with these benefits, Invisalign doesn't compromise on results. It is a highly effective treatment with a track record of success spanning more than 20 years. Invisalign can be used to treat most of the same issues that braces address, including overbite, underbite, crossbite, crowded teeth, and gapped teeth.
In many cases, Invisalign can provide significantly quicker results than conventional braces. Instead of up to 24 months with braces, most Invisalign treatments last between 9 and 15 months. And during that time, you won't be dealing with the common downsides of metal braces.
Metal braces often cause pain due to rubbing brackets, can lead to difficulty eating, and are generally uncomfortable. Broken wires aren't uncommon and will lead to an emergency visit to the orthodontist. Invisalign has none of these issues, providing worry-free and comfortable treatment instead.
Is Invisalign Right for You?
While Invisalign does work in most cases where braces would have been required, every patient is unique. As an Invisalign specialist in Mountain View, Dr. Behdad will evaluate the nature of your individual misalignment and determine what the most effective treatment option will be.
In most cases where Invisalign is suitable, it is the preferred treatment due to its comfort and practical invisibility. The clear plastic aligners aren't noticeable at a glance, unlike the instantly apparent nature of metal braces.
Can you eat with Invisalign? The answer is “Yes.” The aligners are removable, making everyday activities and cleaning much easier. Unlike with braces, there aren't any restrictions on what you can eat. That's because you simply remove the aligners before eating, eliminating the risk of any food damaging or getting caught in the aligners.
It's always recommended to brush your teeth after eating and before putting your aligners back in to prevent any food from building up behind them. You can drink water with your aligners in place, but you should take them out when drinking other beverages to avoid any sugary buildup that can cause bacteria to grow.
Being able to remove your Invisalign aligners makes brushing and flossing each night much easier than trying to work around braces. Simply remove them and brush as usual while also taking that time to clean off your aligners. You do have to put them back on afterward, as they must be worn while sleeping.
Your Invisalign Treatment
Invisalign treatment will begin with a complimentary consultation with Dr. Behdad. During that time, we'll evaluate your misalignment and determine whether Invisalign is right for you. Dental Square provides Invisalign for kids and adults while delivering the personalized care you need to get the best results for you and your family.
We use the latest technology to ensure that you receive the best possible Invisalign treatment, including the latest scanning and impressioning. Your aligners are custom-made to address your unique teeth. We use 3D imaging technology to design aligners that will provide you with excellent results.
You'll receive a full set of aligners that will take you from the beginning of treatment to the final results. Aligners are worn for two weeks, at which point they're switched out for the next set. Doing this continually over the course of the treatment slowly guides teeth into their ideal position.
Most Invisalign treatments last between 9 and 15 months, although some patients may require longer treatment depending on their individual misalignment. During that time, you'll visit us for a check-in every six weeks to ensure that the treatment is proceeding as planned.
Invisalign also features indicators on the aligners that will let you know how the treatment is progressing.
Paying for Invisalign
Like other orthodontic treatments, the cost of Invisalign will be different from patient to patient. The severity of any misalignment and the length of treatment will have the most significant impact.
In general, Invisalign carries approximately the same cost as conventional braces, with the key benefits being the speed, comfort, and convenience of the treatment.
Invisalign is supported by a wide range of insurance providers. If you have a plan that includes other orthodontics, it may cover Invisalign as well. You can discuss payment options with the team at Dental Square to find out more.
